STD Testing & Treatment
Worried you might have an STD? Need routine screening for peace of mind? We’ve got you covered with convenient testing and expert treatment for a broad range of sexually transmitted infections:
What We Test For
Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, HIV, Trichomoniasis, Herpes (HSV), Hepatitis B & C, and other common STIs. Not sure which tests you need? Don’t worry – our provider will evaluate your risk factors and symptoms to create a personalized testing plan*. (For example, CDC guidelines suggest sexually active individuals get tested at least once a year for common STIs, and more often – every 3-6 months – if they have multiple partners or higher risk. We’ll make sure you’re up to date.)
How Testing Works
All it takes is a quick lab visit or in some cases a home kit: – After your telehealth consultation, we send an electronic lab order to a LabCorp location of your choice. LabCorp is a trusted national lab with locations in virtually every city (over 2,000 sites across the US). You can often walk in or schedule a convenient time online. – At the lab, a professional will collect samples (urine and/or blood, and a swab in some cases depending on the test). The process is quick – usually 15 minutes or less. – No one at the lab will discuss your tests – it’s all electronic and confidential. Your results will be sent directly to Dr. Peck through secure channels. – Fast Results: Lab results are ready usually within a few days. Many standard STD tests come back in 2-3 days (our test panel turnaround time is typically 1-4 days). You won’t be left waiting long for answers. – Discreet Results Delivery: Once results are in, we’ll notify you to log in to your secure patient portal to view them. We can also schedule a follow-up call to go over results if you prefer a personal touch. If everything is normal, great – you have peace of mind. If something comes back positive or borderline, don’t panic – we will take care of it.
Routine Screening
Even if you have no symptoms, regular STD check-ups are a smart move – many STIs are asymptomatic. In fact, the majority of STIs show no symptoms or very mild ones that people often don’t notice. That’s why periodic testing is important even when you feel fine. We especially encourage routine screening if you: – Are starting a new relationship or are considering not using condoms with a monogamous partner (you both should get tested first). – Have multiple sexual partners, or your partner has other partners. – Are a man who has sex with men (higher rates of some STIs mean you should screen at least annually, if not every 3-6 months in some cases). – Are under 25 and sexually active – this group accounts for about half of new STD cases each year,
so yearly testing is recommended. – Simply want peace of mind. There’s no harm in knowing your status – knowledge is power.
No Shame, No Judgment: However you identify or whatever your lifestyle, we’re here to support your health. Our provider has seen it all and truly does not judge. We applaud you for being responsible about your sexual wellness. If you’re nervous or embarrassed, we understand – we will do everything to make you comfortable. Many patients tell us it’s easier to talk about these things on a video chat than in person, and we strive to keep it that way.
